Because I don't watch network news, or read The Boston Globe, NYTs, or WaPo, I don't know what coverage the Lame Stream Media is providing.
UPDATE: "Her Name Was Neda"
Warning: This is pretty graphic and shows the death of this young woman. If that sort of thing is too disturbing, please don't watch.
Here is a video I found on You Tube via Instapundit.
Student protesters shot on camera.
Women with gun shot wound placed in ambulance.
The government in Iran has imposed a media blackout, but via the blogs, Twitter, cell phones, satellite phones, and other new media the images are getting out to the world. Everyone of those people are risking their lives not only protesting, but filming and posting about what is going on.
And You Tube, don't forget You Tube. Plenty of video there.
I don't know what will ultimately happen in Iran, I don't think that anyone does. Of course in crises such as this words are of limited importance. Still, when someone as powerful as the President of the United States speaks, or in this case really doesn't speak, it matters.
Maybe we shouldn't intervene or get involved in the internal affairs of other nations. That seems to be the message from the left. However, regime change in Iran would at the least delay their plans and might even change the direction that nation takes.
Either way, you have to admire the people who have the guts to stand up to the Iranian government.

We all should heed the warning of Senator McCain. Do any Obama voters out there wish they had a do-over?
Kinda makes you wonder what would be happening if they had a 2nd amendment doesn't it??? Sad that this is happening, but I'm really not surprised. Iran, since the fall of the Shah in 79, has been one of the most repressive regimes in the world.
I think that repression can only last so long before the rot causes the government to collapse. It took a long time in Russia, but might take less in Iran.
If they had guns, it wouldn't have gone this far.
Then again, if the police or elements of the military flip, they'll have plenty of guns.
You are right about the guns, and it's only a matter of time. When it gets to that point, stand by. I have a feeling it will make what happened in 1979 look like a peaceful protest.
Ironic isn't it. In Los Angeles, they riot because their team won the NBA finals, In Teheran they are dying because they are tired of a oppressive theocracy. Makes you wonder.....
At this point, I don't even give a rat's rear end about doing something. I'm not sure what we could hope to accomplish.
But it is completely unforgivable that Obama hasn't even spoken out against it! I've got quotes on my blog from Nicholas Sarkozy, Gordon Brown, & Angela Merkel, and if I'd spent a little more time with it I'm sure I could have found a lot of other world leaders who have spoken very forcefully. Just, you know, not ours.
Ours went out for ice cream.
Capt. Schmoe, the irony is indeed great.
Sabra, there are things that the US could very easily. The simplest, as you note, would be a statement of support.
Isn't it ironic that the current student protesters are being violently repressed by a gov't led by one of the student protesters from 1979?
Rumor has been bandied about the MSM that some of the Revolutionary Guard are contemplating joining the protesters.
