We've All Been There

If you've been in EMS for more than, oooooh, about a week, you know what a "late trip" is. For those of my readers who aren't in EMS, late trips are calls that come in near the end of your shift and run over past the end of them. Most people in EMS, even those who are known as "overtime whores" usually hate late trips. The reason for that is that they always come when you have something that you have to do after your shift. On days when you don't care if you stay for one or two hours, you get out on time. Have a date after work, or a doctors appointment, or some family function and you are sure to get whacked. You just can't escape it, no matter what you do.

The following is one of many "Hitler Rants" that have appeared on You Tube over the past year or so. This one is spot on for EMS workers. My non EMS readers might not get all of the jokes, but my EMS readers certainly will. Every line in this has been said somewhere, sometime, by some poor EMT or paramedic who ended up working past quitting time.

I'm pretty sure that Ambulance Driver has said many, if not all of these things. Only with a southern drawl, not a German accent.

Oh damn, that is hilarious! :-)

It's one of the better rants. The angst is exactly right. I know some guys that could say just about any of those lines with the same amount of anger.

That is so brilliant!

On call Sunday night, almost home free at 11:00 pm.....call comes in to visit a patient 1 hour from my home, meaning I arrive just as I should be signing off. What about sending the noc shift, I rant!

My husband would totally get this skit....

Actually, many a time I've heard almost that exact rant, verbatim, by the time-clock.

I never go to Boston ... and even I didn't want to do this trip!

Perfect beyond words!

At least I never acted like that. What? Don't look at me like that ...

Well I'm not an EMS, so I only got a third of the jokes, but it's pretty dang funny.

Is there nothing that this clip can't do?

Borepatch got what I was going to say. I wonder if the producers knew they were going to give the world the pieces for a new art-form..

Christina,

So, what is actually being said?

This is the best thing ever.

Well, look who's back. EE, I thought you were mad at me or something!

Needed a laugh this morning. Had a rough shift in my quiet little hamlet. Two folks met their demise. On the upside, I didn't get the late trip to Bastrop.

Well, Hitler's pissed because an attack he had ordered never happened, because of a lack of troops. So he flips his lid, calling them cowards, losers, traitors, etc.
Saying that the generals are generals because they spent time at academies learning how to use a knife and fork...etc., etc.

He says it's impossible to lead under these circumstances, because his orders are as much said into the wind.

Pretty boring, actually. I like the subtitles better! I shall rewatch and try to ignore what I'm hearing. :)

I've seen the movie, and the real monologuish rant, as Christine so aptly puts it, is pretty boring. Hitler losing his mind and saying he's better than they all are and the German people aren't worthy to have him as a leader, and so forth.

But as far as I'm concerned, this is precisely what makes this particular video clip so funny. And yes - it sucks being the goat getting sent long near the end of shift. I can vouch for that.

There's a difference?

That is just Ignatius J. Reilly, Reichsführer.
